CHÂTEAU DE CHENONCEAU · TOURAINE

Wedding videographer at Château de Chenonceau.

The château that spans the river Cher, filmed by a local Loire Valley videographer.

Introduction

The château on the water.

I am a Loire Valley wedding videographer, based about an hour from Chenonceau, in the Touraine. It is one of the most loved châteaux in France — and the only one built across a river, its long gallery resting on arches over the Cher.

This page gathers the essentials if you are thinking of marrying here : what the setting offers on screen, how guests reach it, and how I would film your day.

The setting

What it gives on screen.

Chenonceau is often called the château des Dames — shaped over centuries by the women who held it, among them Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Médicis. Their two formal gardens still frame the approach.

For a film, the building does half the work. The Grande Galerie over the Cher, the reflections in the water, the tree-lined avenue : there is a built-in rhythm here. You follow the place rather than stage it — which is exactly how I like to work.

The light

Water and reflection.

The river changes everything. Late in the day the light bounces off the Cher and back onto the stone, soft and low. Morning mist on the water, in spring and autumn, gives images you cannot plan but can wait for.

My method doesn't change : two discreet cameras, no added light, a documentary eye. A drone only where the site and the law allow — handled in advance, as a licensed pilot.

Getting there

Bringing your guests.

Chenonceau sits in the Touraine, between Tours and Amboise. The village of Chenonceaux has its own small station ; the fastest route from Paris is the TGV to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps — about an hour — then a short drive. From my studio in Romorantin, it is roughly an hour by road, with no travel fee within the Touraine.

Good to know

Before you book.

The civil ceremony takes place at a town hall. Chenonceau is privately owned and opens certain spaces to private events under its own conditions ; many couples hold the reception in a nearby Touraine estate and keep the château as a setting for the film. Terms and availability are best confirmed directly with the château's events team, well ahead.
