PROVENCE · DESTINATION

Provence wedding videographer.

A Loire Valley–based filmmaker who travels south for couples marrying in Provence.

Introduction

A region you choose for its light.

My studio is in the Loire Valley, in Romorantin. But some of the couples who write to me marry elsewhere, and Provence comes up often. When a project makes sense, I make the drive.

I'd rather say it plainly : I don't claim to know every domain in the Vaucluse by heart. What I bring is a way of filming — discreet, in natural light, nothing re-staged — and the serious scouting that comes before every trip. The rest, Provence gives on its own.

The setting

What Provence gives on screen.

Provence has a light few regions can match : strong, sometimes harsh at midday, glorious at the close of the day. It carves dry stone, lengthens the shadow of the cypress trees and lifts the pale render of the old houses.

The Luberon, a protected regional park, holds much of that material — hill villages, terraces, lavender fields in June and July, vines lower down. West toward the Alpilles, the land turns drier, almost mineral. These are landscapes that need no staging. Well placed, you simply let the day unfold.

The approach

How I would film it.

The heat changes everything. In July I wouldn't shoot a couple session at three in the afternoon : the light is vertical and burns faces. I'd aim for the first hours of the morning and, above all, the long warm end of the day, as the sun drops behind the hills.

Otherwise, my method holds. Two discreet cameras, no added light, a drone where space and the law allow. The colour grade stays the same as on all my films : deep, restrained, never over-saturated. A Provençal wedding doesn't need the colours forced — they are already there.

Getting there

Bringing your guests.

The simplest gateway is Avignon TGV station, about 2h40 from Paris, with the heart of the Luberon roughly an hour's drive beyond. Marseille-Provence airport connects to Avignon by a short train, handy for guests flying in from abroad.
